Fallout full sleeve with Vault Boy and Nuka Cola
Neo-trad · Shoulder · Colour · Photo
Two arms are shown with a full sleeve tattoo running from the shoulder to the wrist, themed on the Fallout video game series. Motifs include a power armour helmet, a dog, a Nuka Cola bottle cap logo, a Vault Boy figure and a smoky explosion with a mushroom cloud. The shading is smooth and painterly with strong colour in the red, orange and yellow clouds, and the imagery is arranged in stacked bands down the arm.

The tomatoes came up the same week the cloud over Gallows Hill thinned to brown. Dad said it was a sign, though he said most things were when he wanted an excuse to stop digging. I pressed a red Nuka Cola cap into the soil at the end of each row, the way he'd taught me, so we'd know where the seed was and where the raiders had been lifting things at night.

Bramble, our dog, had taken to sleeping across the bed nearest the fence with her nose on her paws, watching the road. Dad had hung an old power armour helmet on the gatepost, its visor cracked and full of rainwater, and it did the job better than any scarecrow. Even the crows gave it a wide berth, which told us something about the crows.
On Sunday I found a boot print in the bed, far too big for anyone in the settlement, with a bottle cap pressed into the heel. I stood there a long while with the watering can. Then I went to the shed, where my brother had painted the Vault Boy thumbs-up on the door years ago, back when he still believed the old world would send a bus for us.
I didn't wake Dad. I knelt, worked the cap free of the heel print, and set it on the windowsill where he'd see it at breakfast. Then I took the hoe down the row and turned the soil until the print was gone. By the time the light came over the hill, the first tomato had split its skin overnight and was as red as the sign on the cans, and nobody could have said who had walked where.
