Terms of service
The rules for using TattooInn as a client or an artist. Last updated 15 October 2026.
Who we are
TattooInn is run by Selfound Ltd (company number 16450921), registered in England and Wales at Unit 82a James Carter Road, Mildenhall, Bury St Edmunds, IP28 7DE, England. These terms apply to everyone who uses tattooinn.com, and to the tattooinn.co.uk addresses that lead to it.
You can reach us at hello@tattooinn.com. Privacy matters go to privacy@tattooinn.com.
Words we use
- We, us: Selfound Ltd.
- Client: a person who uses TattooInn to find, ask or book a tattoo artist.
- Artist: a tattoo artist or studio with a profile on TattooInn. Artists are businesses, not consumers.
- Booking: a session that a client has accepted a quote for and whose deposit has been paid.
- Deposit: the part of the price paid up front. It belongs to the artist and comes off the final price.
- Balance: the price minus the deposit.
- Cancellation policy: up to four tiers an artist sets, each a number of hours before a session and the share of the deposit the artist keeps if the client cancels inside it. Before the largest tier a client can cancel for a full deposit refund.
- Plan: the free artist plan, Pro artist or Studio.
Who can use TattooInn
You must be 18 or over. Tattooing anyone under 18 is illegal in the UK. A client confirms they are 18 or over before sending a request, and the consent form checks their date of birth against the session date. We cannot take a form from someone who will be under 18 on that day.
TattooInn is for tattoo work in the UK, and prices are in pounds sterling. You must give us true details.
Your account
You sign in with a link we email you, which works for 15 minutes, or with a password if you set one. If you tick stay signed in, you stay signed in on that device for 14 days.
Keep your email account and devices secure. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at once if you think someone else has got in.
You may have one account for yourself. An artist account is for the artist named on it.
What we do, and what we do not
We run a marketplace. We introduce clients to independent tattoo artists and help them agree a quote, take a deposit and keep records. We are not a tattoo studio and we are not the tattooist.
Every artist on TattooInn is a trader, acting in the course of their business. The tattoo is a contract between the client and the artist, and we are not a party to it. The artist is responsible for the design, the work, hygiene, health and safety, insurance and their licence. We do not supervise artists, and we do not promise how any tattoo will turn out.
We check that an artist has a council registration on record and show the date we checked. That is a check of a record. It is not a guarantee of the artist's work or premises.
Requests, quotes and bookings
A client sends a request with their idea, placement, size, budget and dates. An artist can reply with a quote, decline, or let it run. A request nobody answers closes after 7 days, and we email the client.
A quote sets the price, the hours, the session time and the deposit. It is open for 5 days unless the artist chooses a different time. It cannot be accepted after it closes or once the artist withdraws it.
A booking is formed when the client accepts the quote and the deposit has cleared. Until then there is no booking. Only one booking can hold a session slot. If two deposits arrive for the same slot, the later one is cancelled and its deposit is refunded in full.
The client must sign the consent form before the session. An artist can refuse to tattoo a client who has not signed it, or whose answers mean it is not safe.
Deposits, balances and payment
All card payments are taken by Stripe. You must also accept Stripe's terms and privacy policy. We never see your full card number.
The deposit is paid to the artist through Stripe Connect. It goes to the artist's own Stripe account, and the artist owns it. Clients pay no booking fee to us. A client pays the price the artist quoted and nothing on top.
The deposit always comes off the final price. On the day, the client pays the balance by card through TattooInn, or pays the artist in person and the artist confirms it. The balance cannot be paid before the day of the session. A client may add a tip, in whole pounds. All of it goes to the artist and we take nothing from it.
If an artist's Stripe account is not ready to take payments, a client cannot pay a deposit.
Cancelling and moving a booking
Each artist sets their own cancellation policy. We show it to the client in plain words, with the exact date and time free cancellation closes, before they pay. The policy shown when the client books is the one that applies to that booking, even if the artist changes it later.
If a client cancels before that time, the deposit is refunded in full. If a client cancels after it, the artist keeps the share of the deposit that the policy sets for that point, rounded down to the penny, and the rest is refunded.
If an artist cancels, for any reason and at any time, the client gets the deposit back in full.
A balance paid by card is always refunded in full if the booking is cancelled, with any tip, whoever cancels and whichever side of the window it falls on.
A client can move a session to another open slot only before the cancellation window closes. An artist can move a session at any time. We keep a record of each move.
If a client does not turn up, the artist can mark a no-show. The artist keeps the deposit.
Refunds go back to the card used, through Stripe. Your bank sets how long they take to show.
Nothing in this section or in an artist's cancellation window takes away rights you have by law.
Deposit disputes
If you have a problem with a deposit, talk to the artist first. You can also contact us at hello@tattooinn.com.
If a client asks their bank or card issuer to reverse a deposit, Stripe opens a dispute and we tell the artist by email. The artist can accept it, which gives the money back to the client, or keep the deposit and send their account of what happened, which must be at least 20 characters. Stripe sets the deadline and we show it to the artist. If the artist does not respond by the deadline, the case goes to the card issuer without a response.
The card issuer and Stripe make the decision, not us. If the issuer rules for the client, the deposit is treated as refunded. If it rules for the artist, the money is put back in the artist's account.
Flash designs
An artist can offer flash, which is a ready-made design with sizes and prices. Each design has a rule that is shown to clients:
- One-off: the artist will tattoo it once. It is held for a client for 30 minutes while their deposit goes through. If the deposit does not clear in that time, the hold ends and the next client can take it. Once a deposit clears, it is claimed and retired, and no one else can book it.
- Repeatable: the artist will tattoo it more than once, and it stays open.
- Claimed: a one-off that a client has paid a deposit on.
The price is the price of the size the client picks. The deposit is the artist's usual deposit, and never more than the price. Public-domain classic flash that has no artist is for looking at and cannot be booked.
An artist must only list flash they have the right to offer, and should credit any other artist whose work it is based on.
Fees and plans for artists
Clients never pay TattooInn a booking fee. What an artist pays depends on where the client came from, which is fixed when the booking is made:
- Your own link or QR code: 0%, for ever. This covers clients who come to you through your own TattooInn link or QR code.
- Flash shop bookings: 0%.
- Marketplace clients on the free plan: a flat £6 on a client's first booking with you that came through TattooInn, and nothing on later bookings with that client. The fee is taken from the deposit when it clears. If the whole deposit is later refunded, the fee is refunded too.
- Balances and tips: no fee.
At present we pay Stripe's card processing fees ourselves, so the artist receives the full deposit, balance and tip, less the £6 fee where it applies. If that changes we will tell you by email before it does.
Pro artist is £19 a month and Studio is £59 a month. Both remove the new-client fee. The For artists page describes each plan, and the price shown at Stripe Checkout is the price you pay.
Paid plans are bought through Stripe Checkout and renew each month until you cancel. You can cancel in your settings at any time. Cancelling ends your plan and any further charge, and we do not refund part of a month already paid for. You then return to the free plan.
If a payment fails, you keep your plan while Stripe retries it. If Stripe ends the subscription, you return to the free plan. We may change the price or features of a plan. We will tell you by email before a change applies to you, and you can cancel before it does.
What artists must do
- Hold the registration or licence your council requires, keep it up to date, and keep the details on TattooInn true. We email you two months before it expires and again when it has expired. An artist whose registration has expired is left out of search.
- Keep prices, deposit, cancellation window and availability accurate. Honour a booking at the quoted price.
- Check the client's age in person on the day, and read their consent form. Do not tattoo anyone who is under 18. Look after the client's health information as the law requires.
- Work safely and hygienically, hold the insurance your work needs, and follow the law and your council's rules.
- Complete your Stripe Connect setup. Stripe's Connected Account Agreement and Stripe's Services Agreement apply to your payouts, and are part of these terms by reference. We are not a bank, and Stripe decides who can be paid.
- Only import a website or Instagram account that you own. Imported items stay private until you confirm them.
Your content
You keep ownership of what you upload: photos, designs, text, reviews and messages. You must have the right to upload it.
You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, free licence to store, resize, copy and show your content on TattooInn, to run the service and to show your profile to clients. The licence ends when you remove the content or close your account, except for copies in backups and records we must keep.
A client's healed photo is shown on an artist's profile only with that client's permission, which they give on their review. They can switch it off at any time.
Do not upload a photo of another person's tattoo or body without their permission.
Reviews and healed photos
A review can only be left by the client of a booking, once, after the artist has marked the session as done. About six weeks after a session we email the client to ask how it healed, unless they have switched that email off.
A review gives a rating from 1 to 5 and up to 600 characters. It must be honest and from your own experience. Nobody may offer, give or take payment, a discount or any other reward for a review, or write or buy a review for an artist. An artist must not pressure a client to change or remove one.
Healed photos must be of the artist's own work, and the client must be happy for them to be shown. We remove reviews and photos that we find break these rules.
What you must not do
Do not:
- post work that is not yours, or impersonate anyone;
- harass, threaten or discriminate against others;
- upload or send anything unlawful;
- give false details, or use a fake or someone else's identity;
- scrape the site, or try to get into accounts, systems or other people's data;
- move a client that TattooInn introduced off the platform to avoid the new-client fee;
- abuse card disputes, for example by asking your bank to reverse a payment you agreed to.
Reporting and taking things down
A client can report an artist from the artist's page or from a conversation. The reasons are: not their work, misleading prices, unsafe, offensive, no reply after deposit, or something else. A report can include up to 1,000 characters. A client can block an artist in the same step. A block stops requests and messages in both directions. We do not tell an artist who reported or blocked them.
To ask us to remove a photo of your tattoo, or work of yours that someone has copied, write to privacy@tattooinn.com with a link and any evidence. We take the work down while we look into it, and we reply to you.
If we find a breach of these terms, we may remove content, warn you, or close your account.
Closing accounts
We may close an account, or remove content, if you break these terms, put others at risk, we cannot confirm a licence, or the law requires it. We will tell you why, unless the law stops us.
If we close an artist account, we may cancel the artist's upcoming bookings. Clients then get their deposits back in full.
You can stop using TattooInn at any time. To close your account, write to privacy@tattooinn.com. The Privacy policy explains what we erase and what we keep.
Your consumer rights
If you are a consumer, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 applies. We will provide our service with reasonable care and skill. The tattoo itself is a service you buy from the artist, who is a trader and must also use reasonable care and skill. If a tattoo is not done to that standard, raise it with the artist first. Your rights about the tattoo are against the artist, not us.
Paid plans are sold to artists for their business, so the 14-day right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 does not apply to them.
Nothing in these terms limits your legal rights as a consumer.
Our liability
We do not exclude or limit liability that the law does not allow us to exclude or limit. That includes death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, and your rights as a consumer.
If you are a consumer, we are responsible for loss you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or our negligence. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable.
We are not responsible for the quality, safety or outcome of a tattoo, the conduct of an artist or client, or a loss that comes from an artist or client not keeping an agreement. These are between the client and the artist.
If you use TattooInn for your business, for example as an artist, we are not liable for lost profit, lost bookings, lost goodwill or indirect loss, and our total liability to you is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
We are not responsible for a failure that is outside our control, such as an outage at Stripe or at a hosting company.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. If a change matters, we will tell signed-in users by email before it applies. If you do not agree, you can close your account. The date at the top shows when the terms last changed. Bookings already made keep the terms and cancellation window that applied when they were made.
Complaints
Write to hello@tattooinn.com. We aim to reply within two working days. If we cannot settle it, consumers can get free advice from Citizens Advice. You may also take a claim to court.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring a claim in your local courts, and the consumer law of your home nation still applies to you.
