Full back dotwork spiral with geometric sleeves
Dotwork · Back · Black and grey · Photo
A person is shown from behind against a black background, with a full back tattoo of a central spiral set within a nested diamond frame. The geometric patterns are built from fine dots and lines, with star-like motifs and lattice fills across the back and sleeves. The image is in black and grey, and the design fills the frame symmetrically from the shoulders to the waistband.

Dear Hannah,

I found Mr Colley's protractor in the bottom of a biscuit tin last Sunday, still with the pencil stub clipped to its arm. You will remember how he made us draw a spiral with it every Friday, starting from a single point at the centre of the page and working outwards until the lead wore down to nothing. Nobody ever finished one. He said that was the point.
I have enclosed the sheet I drew in the fourth year, the one he pinned above the sink in the staffroom and never took down. It is folded in four and smells of the tin. Look at where my line crosses itself near the edge. I told him it was a mistake and he told me it was the only honest bit on the page.
I am coming to the reunion after all, though not for the buffet. The school is pulling down the old science block and Colley's room is going with it, and somebody on the committee has asked whether anyone wants to take a chalkboard home. I said I would. Bring your sheet if you still have it, and we can see whose line goes furthest before it gives out.
Love, Maggie
