Blue and orange butterflies on upper back
Realism · Back · Colour · Photo
The tattoo shows two butterflies, one blue and purple with spotted wing markings and one orange and red with dark edging, both rendered with fine detail and soft shading. Small purple flowers and scattered petals sit beneath them, with light shadowing that gives the design a lifted, three-dimensional look. The photo is taken from behind, showing the upper back and shoulder with a black bra strap and hair at the neck.

Nell eased the back door open at twenty to five, the step cold through her socks, and the bakery smelled of yeast and the last of the night's scorched sugar. Mr Adeyemi had been in for an hour already. His forearms were dusted white to the elbow, and he didn't look up when she came in, only nodded at the cooling rack and said the rye needed knocking back before seven.

They worked without talking for a while. The radio on the shelf murmured about tide times at Margate. Adeyemi piped violet icing onto a row of fairy cakes, quick flicks of the wrist that left each one with a little curl at the edge. "Blue's the hard one," he said, not quite to her. "Everyone wants the purple to look soft. You lay the paler shade first and let it bleed, or it goes like a bruise."
Something tapped at the window above the proving baskets. Nell turned. A copper butterfly had settled on the outside sill, wings folded, drawn in by the warm glass and the sweet air coming off the vents. Its edges were dark as ink. She had never seen one out this late in the year, and certainly not on a city street with the bins still waiting at the kerb.
"They don't last the cold," Adeyemi said, and came to stand beside her. He wiped his hands on his apron, then took a fairy cake from the tray and set it carefully on the sill beside the glass. The butterfly lifted, circled once, and settled on the icing. When the sky went from black to slate, it was still there, opening and closing its wings against the violet. Nell fetched the trolley and began stacking the morning loaves. Outside, the streetlights clicked off one by one. The butterfly rose, caught the grey light, and was over the rooftops before she thought to say goodbye.
