Dalek with Exterminate banner flash design
Black and grey · Flash
A black outline drawing of a Dalek, with its dome, eyestalk and sink plunger-like arms shown in simple linework. A ribbon banner wraps across the middle of the figure with the word EXTERMINATE lettered on it. The image is a plain white or pale grey background with no colour and no shading.

Dennis had been told the Dalek would fit through the church doors, and it had not, so now it sat in the car park of the Co-op hall with its dome scraped on one side and its eyestalk bent back like a bored question mark. Gary had hired it from a man in Rochdale who restored props for conventions. "It only moves when someone's inside," Gary had said, and then, as if it were a law of nature, "Someone's always inside."

Inside the hall the buffet had gone warm under foil. Dennis found his sister Pauline by the urn, holding a paper plate of sausage rolls she had not touched. "He's going to do the vows in it," she said. "Tell me you're joking."
"I'm not joking. He says it's the only thing he's ever loved more than you."
She laughed despite herself, the way she had since they were nine, and then the lights dimmed and the Dalek rolled in on its trolley wheels, a drunk cousin folded inside its lower half, voice booming from a speaker taped beneath the banner. EXTERMINATE, the ribbon said, which somebody had at least spelled correctly.
Then the plunger arm swung round, caught the top tier of the wedding cake, and the whole thing slid sideways onto the parquet with a sound like a dropped wardrobe. Nobody spoke. Pauline set down her plate, walked across the floor in her heels, and took the Dalek's stunned arm in both hands. "Right," she said. "Who's got a knife?"
