Geometric circles and line tattoo on a forearm
Fine line · Forearm · Black and grey · Photo
The tattoo shows overlapping circles and partial arcs stacked along a central vertical line, with small dots, short tick marks and tiny circles scattered along the design. It is drawn in thin black linework with no shading, giving a technical, diagram-like appearance. The design sits centrally on a pale forearm against a dark background, shot straight on.

Nadia had driven the Sallow Pass road for eleven years and had never once seen the stars line up the way her father's surveyor's notebook promised. The notebook was full of circles: pencil rings drawn with a string and a nail, arcs that ran off the page, little dots pricked into the paper where he had fixed a station and then forgotten why.

She pulled onto the gravel by the cattle grid and sat with the engine ticking. Above the ridge, Venus hung low and bright. On the passenger seat lay the brass dividers, the compass case with its missing hinge, and a sheet of tracing paper she had been copying onto for a month. Each night she drew what she could see. Each night the lines came out a little wrong, so she rubbed them out and started again, the way he must have done in the cab of his truck forty years before.
At dawn the road shimmered and the heat rose off the tarmac in sheets. She laid the tracing over the notebook and held them up to the windscreen. The circles matched. Not the stars, she realised, but the spacing of the marks. The distance from each dot to the next was his, to the millimetre, as though he had walked this same loop and left his notes for whoever came after.
She picked up the pencil and added one more dot at the foot of the page, where the vertical line met the ground, and wrote beside it the date and the single word *here*.
