Gold metallic temporary tattoos on shoulder and arms
Botanical · Shoulder · Colour · Photo
A woman with long blonde hair, photographed from the chin down, shows several gold metallic temporary tattoos on her shoulder, chest and forearms. The designs include overlapping scale patterns, a feather, a branch of leaves, a small key or loop motif and a round eye-like shape, all rendered as flat foil with a textured sheen. The warm orange top and soft natural light make the gold designs stand out against the skin.

A story inspired by this tattoo · fiction
Osman the gold beater kept his leaf between sheets of animal gut, and he beat it on a flat stone outside his door, where the desert road bent past the well. A thousand strikes made a single leaf thin enough to see the sun through. Travellers came for it. A carter's wife wanted scales for her husband's coat, a boy wanted a feather for his cap, and a woman with a broken necklace wanted a key, though she had no lock left to open.

He made them all, and he asked only one thing in payment: that each person say the name of the road aloud before they walked away. Most laughed and did it. The carter's wife said it twice, to be sure.
One evening in the hot month, a stranger came from the west with a peacock's feather tucked in his belt. He wanted it copied in gold, eye and all. Osman worked the leaf until his arms ached and laid the feather down on a clean cloth. The eye came out darker than the rest, a black pupil set in a ring of sun. The stranger looked at it for a long while and said, "Now the road will know me." Then he paid with a dry fig and walked east into the dusk.
Years later the well dried up, and Osman's stone was buried under drifted sand. People still said the gold on their wrists outlasted the wind, and that anyone who said the name of the road would always find their way back to the place where they had been given something worth keeping.
