Horror flash sheet with skulls, skeleton and coffin
Mixed · Flash
A flash sheet of many small horror-themed designs arranged across a pink background, including a skull, a werewolf head, an open fanged mouth, a standing skeleton, a coffin, a raven, an axe and a creature head. The designs use bold black solid fills with pink highlights and simple graphic linework, with small black drops scattered across the page. The composition places the motifs evenly across the sheet with no body part shown.

Sit nearer the stove and mind the lamp, because the 11.40 is late and I'll not tell this twice. Thirty-one years I've kept the lamp room at Gallow's Cross Halt, and the only passenger I ever signed for without a ticket was Mr Ambrose Wicklow, the winter the line froze solid.

He arrived with three trunks, a cage holding a black raven, and a long box he would not let the porters lift. A red cross was painted on its lid. Tin boxes were stacked on top, one holding a candle stub that would not blow out, another a silver-handled cleaver, and a third an eye in brine that kept turning to follow the lamp. Wicklow paid the freight in advance, in coins that felt warm, and asked that the box be left on platform two until the dawn train took it on to the end of the line.
Nobody came for it. The stationmaster, Tobias Pyle, stood his ground with his pocket watch and swore the box would never fit through the stationhouse door, so it sat out in the rain. By morning the lid had lifted an inch, the platform was spotted with small dark drops leading to the rails, and on the lamp hook sat the raven, black as the coal in the tender, counting the carriages under its breath.
Pyle left the line that spring. The porters swear the box is still under the canopy, that the raven is on the hook every dawn, and that there are a few more drops on the sleepers each morning. Don't look at me like that. You bought your ticket, didn't you? Then mind the step when the 11.40 pulls in.
