Infinity paw print design with hakuna matata script
Lettering · Black and grey · Flash
The design forms an infinity symbol from solid black paw prints and small bird silhouettes, with the words hakuna matata in flowing script across the centre. A small round-eared silhouette sits near the lower right of the loop. The image is a flat black-on-white drawing with no shading, shown centred with plenty of white space around it.

The rain had come down over Kisumu market since before dawn, and Amina had given up on the tarpaulins. Her brother's dog, Baraka, trotted ahead of her between the stalls, leaving a line of wet prints across the concrete that looped back on themselves each time he turned round to check she was still following. Sisal sacks, bruised mangoes, a man selling phone chargers from a bicycle seat. Nobody looked at a dog that walked in circles in the rain.

At the far end, where the tin roof gave out, an old tailor called Obuya sat under a sheet of plastic with a tin of buttons and a radio that played nothing but football. He had promised Amina a dress for her cousin's wedding and had not yet found the cloth. When she told him this, he laughed so hard he had to set his scissors down, and then he pointed at Baraka's trail on the wet ground, the little hearts of mud going round and round.
"Your dog is doing sums," he said. "Forward and back, forward and back, never arriving. That is the life of a market dog. Nothing bad in it." He pulled a length of green cloth from under the counter and laid it across her arms. "Hakuna matata, Amina. The rain will stop when it stops, and the wedding will come when it comes."
Baraka sat down in the puddle and barked once at the birds gathering on the wire above them. The rain eased. Amina folded the green cloth over her arm and, for the first time that morning, walked straight out of the market without looking back at the loops her dog had left behind.
