Paisley and flower back tattoo
Botanical · Back · Black and grey · Photo
The tattoo covers much of the upper back and extends down the side, featuring a large open flower with layered petals, leafy foliage and a long paisley swirl. The linework is fine and detailed, with shading and dotted fill creating texture within the petals and paisley curves. The design is rendered entirely in black and grey ink against the skin, and the subject is photographed from behind, seated outdoors beside green plants and red flowers.

She rented the cottage at the end of Hollin Lane and planted nothing for a year, just watched.

Then one morning in April the ground by the wall had split open with a single bloom, a flower as wide as a dinner plate, its petals laid out in rings like the growth in a felled oak. The village gathered to gawp. The vicar said it was a sign. The baker's boy said it was a weed. Rukhsana only knelt beside it with her needle case and drew the veins of each petal onto her own wrist in ink, dot by dot, because she said a thing that grows slowly ought to be copied slowly.
The swirl that climbs up beside the bloom, that long curl like a question mark gone soft, is the vine she never finished. Some say it still grows at night, creeping a finger's width towards the back door. I wouldn't know. I've only ever seen it in the dark, when the moon catches the dots and makes them glitter like seed in a dry field. Pass me that lamp, would you, and mind the crooked stone on your way out.
