Realistic moon and quote on a forearm
Realism · Forearm · Black and grey · Photo
A detailed full moon with craters and shadowed maria is shaded in black and grey on the inner forearm, shown against pale skin. Below it, three lines of small serif text read Barn's burnt down, now I can see the moon, set in a clean, left-aligned block. The composition is centred on the moon, with a blurred, dim background of shelves and objects.

Dorothy went to her sister's in Lowestoft with a carrier bag and a cat. The council offered her a flat on the far side of the estate, which had a view of nothing. There was no moon behind Calder House any more, only the hole where the fourth floor had been, and above it, clean and round, the moon sitting in the empty frame as if someone had hung it there for him.
He went up every evening after that, though the stairs were taped off. Sixth floor, fifth, past the scorched door of 4B. From the landing he could see the sky through the burnt windows, and he counted the stars the way she had taught him, one for each thing lost. He stopped at nineteen. Then he went down and told his nan that the moon was looking right at them now, and for once she did not argue.
