Roses and revolver on a thigh
Realism · Thigh · Black and grey · Photo
A black and grey tattoo covers the side of a thigh, showing several large, realistically shaded roses with dark green leaves rendered in grey. An ornately engraved revolver runs vertically through the centre, with its grip and barrel detailed in fine highlights and shadows. The soft, dark studio background keeps the focus on the detailed shading across the skin.

Lusk's breath caught. He looked at the gun, then at the window, then at the dark strip of garden where the bushes Walter had planted shivered under the wet.
"Cut them back in the morning," she said. "They come up stronger that way." When the door shut behind him she picked the revolver up again and rubbed the engraved petals with her thumb, the way Walter used to, until the metal underneath caught the lamplight like a blush.
