Sunflower and mandala tattoo design

Botanical · Black and grey · Flash

A detailed drawing of a sunflower with layered petals, a dotted and linework mandala at its centre, and several large leaves spreading out on both sides. The petals and leaves use fine outlines and hatched shading, while the centre mixes geometric line patterns with stippled dots. The design is set on a white sheet photographed at an angle on a dark wooden surface.

She pressed a ring of peas into the soil around the stalk, then a second ring inside it, and by the time the lamp was lit in the cottage the field had a pattern she could read from the back step. Circles inside circles, rays running between them, the whole thing spread out under the drying heads like a map of somewhere that had not been drawn yet.

In the morning the bees had found it. They walked the rays in order, never once crossing a line, and Ida stood at the gate with her tea going cold and understood that the flower had never been wrong at all. It had only been waiting for someone to stop trying to make it straight.
