Traditional flash sheet with banner designs
Traditional · Black and grey · Flash
A black and white flash sheet of eleven traditional-style tattoo designs, each with a ribbon banner carrying a short word or phrase. Subjects include a microphone, flowers with scissors, a coffin, a lipstick, a teapot, a tooth, a box cutter, a bear with a dagger, a donut and milk carton, a suitcase and a rabbit above a top hat. The bold outlines are filled with solid black and white areas, and the designs are spaced evenly across the page.

Dear Maud,

The left oven has gone again, so it's just me and the proofer until Dev gets in at half five. I've stacked the milk cartons by the back door, the ones you said were a waste of cardboard, and filled them with the last of the custard for Mrs Okonedo's party order. Don't laugh. She wants forty, shaped like teapots, which I have not managed once.
Around four the rain stopped and the yard went that thin grey colour that makes the bins look like they're sleeping. I took a mug of tea out to the step and found a tooth sitting there like someone had left it for the tooth fairy. I think the fox brought it. I pretended it wasn't disgusting and put it in the bin with a bit of ceremony.
Then the back door banged and Dev came in swearing about the night bus, and before he'd got his coat off I had the top hat out of the lost property box from the pantomime last winter. I did the trick I'd been practising in the car park: sleeve, flick, cough. He didn't see the rabbit come out of the flour sack, but he did see me nearly drop the whole tray.
Anyway, the donuts are glazed, the custard's in, and the window's going pink over the car park. I'll post you one, though it'll be squashed by Tuesday.
Love, Jean
