Tribal cat tattoo on an upper arm
Dotwork · Upper arm · Black and grey · Photo
A cat silhouette is filled with bold tribal-style patterns, including spirals, a flower motif and a geometric sun-like shape near the base of the tail. The solid black areas contrast with fine dotwork shading and stippled texture across the body and tail. The design fills most of the frame on a pale arm, with part of another tattoo visible at the bottom edge.

Her grandmother had a grey cat called Sanda who would not walk on any floor that wasn't swept in a spiral. Every morning the old woman drew the broom out from the doorway in a curl, round and round toward the middle, and the cat followed the curl with her tail up like a question. Nobody knew why. The village said the cat was clever. The old woman said the cat was only particular.
When the bride's grandfather came courting, he had two left feet and one good coat, and he tried to walk straight to the door without a curve in him. Sanda sat on his boot and would not move. He stood there the best part of an hour. Then he took a stick of charcoal and drew a spiral on the step, round and round until it met the cat's own tail, and the cat rose up and walked the whole way into his arms.
So the cat taught him to go in a circle, and the old woman taught the cat to wait. They married under the flower tree the next spring, and Sanda walked the aisle first, and nobody had the heart to stop her. Now lift your glasses, and mind the spiral on the floor. It is there for a reason.
