Vader and Luke lightsaber duel silhouette

Calf · Mixed · Photo

The tattoo shows two black silhouettes facing each other, Darth Vader on the left and a figure in a fighting stance on the right, joined by crossed green and red lightsabers. The figures are filled with solid black ink with soft edges, while the blades have a glowing, blurred colour effect with faint blue shading at the edges. The design sits centrally on a pale calf against a dark background, with a white sandal visible at the left edge.

A story inspired by this tattoo · fiction

The black lord came up the causeway to Harrowmere on the third night of frost, and the sentries heard his breathing before they saw him. Oswin, who kept the postern because nobody else would, stood in the arch with the ash-stave his father had carved, its tip bound in green river-glass that hummed whenever the wind turned.

They met in the ruined hall where the roof had fallen in. The lord drew a blade of dark light, and Oswin answered with a red one pulled from the hearth, where an ember had been kept alive since Michaelmas. The two swords crossed with a sound like a struck bell. Blue sparks ran along the edges where the light met the cold air, and the flagstones shook under their feet.

They circled the broken altar twice without speaking. Then the lord said the old story required a fair fight and nothing more, and Oswin said he had not asked for a story. So they fought until the moon slid behind the north wall, and neither gave ground to the other.

At cockcrow the lord lowered his blade and said the boy's grip was his father's grip. Then he was gone down the causeway, and Oswin found the green glass lying in the wet grass, still warm. The moor folk say that each spring a faint line of green and red shows where the blades crossed, and that the grass there has never needed cutting.
