Cartoon pin-up with lipstick kisses on thigh

Thigh · Colour · Photo

A cartoon pin-up woman with red hair, a red dress and purple gloves is tattooed on the outer thigh, with a pose that has one hand on her hip and one arm raised. Six red lipstick kiss marks surround the figure. The work uses smooth, soft shading and bold colour, with highlights on the dress and skin tones.

Dear Eddie,

The snow came over the pass on Tuesday and shut the road to Carrow Gap, so nobody's coming up for the second show. That leaves me the piano to myself and the whole bar to pretend I'm sorry about it. Mr Hollis keeps the stove going on account of the one trucker who got stuck, and he's been reading the racing pages to me like they're the Psalms. I told him you'd know what to do with a man like that. You'd have talked him into a second bottle.

I found your ticket stub in the lining of my good gloves, the purple ones you said made me look like a grape someone had been kind to. I haven't worn them since the night you drove off. Tonight I put them on and sang "Stormy Weather" to the empty stools, and the chandelier shook like it was embarrassed for me.

Here's the thing I keep meaning to say. Every night before the set I press my mouth to the mirror in the ladies' room, six red marks along the glass like a rule I can't break. Mr Hollis says it's bad for the glass. I say the glass should be grateful for the company.

Come back before the thaw. Bring the car with the broken wiper and I'll drive us down the far side myself. I know every bend of that road now.

Yours in lipstick and bad weather, Vi
