Celtic knot bodice chest tattoo with woodland animals
Neo-trad · Chest · Colour · Photo
The tattoo covers the chest in a bodice-like shape, with grey Celtic knotwork straps and border framing a woodland scene. Inside the frame are flowers, mushrooms, a squirrel, a fox-like animal, a butterfly and leafy foliage. Bold colour in reds, greens and blues sits against shaded grey knotwork, and the scene is shown from a front-on view with the face cropped out.

A story inspired by this tattoo · fiction
The squirrel had been turning the same acorn over for three days when the fox came padding along the edge of the bog to ask what it was doing. "Hiding it," said the squirrel, "from the knot-woman." The fox sat down on a root that smelled of wet moss and said a knot-woman was only a story for children who would not sleep.

But the squirrel pointed with its tail at the bramble wall. Every thorn had been tied into loops and plaits, drawn tight like laces across a bodice, and no bramble grew that way by itself. Blue mushrooms had sprung up in a ring at its foot overnight, and a butterfly that should have died with the frost sat on the lowest plait, opening and closing its wings as if it were counting.
The fox said nothing for a while. Then it went to fetch the grey wool the old goat had left caught on the fence, and wound the loose ends into the gaps, and the squirrel helped without asking why. By dusk the whole wall was bound in green and red. Whatever had been pulling the thorns tight in the night found nothing left to tighten, and went away muttering into the reeds.
The squirrel still carries its acorn. The fox still sleeps on the warm root. The knot is still there, if you know where the wall begins.
