Darth Vader tattoo on a lower leg
Realism · Calf · Black and grey · Photo
A black and grey tattoo of Darth Vader's helmet and upper torso sits on the front of a lower leg, just below the knee. The shading is smooth and detailed, with soft grey gradients across the helmet and chest plates and darker tones for the black armour. The photograph is taken indoors in a hallway, with a framed tattoo flash piece on the wall and a person in a red top in the background.

Mrs Jenner kept the boarding house at the top of Gullet Steps, and she kept the diving helmet on a nail above the cellar door because the salvage men had left it behind when they packed up the wreck boats. It was black, dented at the brow, with two round eyes like cold coins and a grille that hummed whenever the wind came off the harbour. Nobody in the town would touch it, and Mrs Jenner dusted it every Friday with a rag and a little vinegar.

The lodgers complained of the breathing. Every night, through the floorboards, came a slow hiss, in and out, as though someone at the foot of the cellar stairs was getting ready to speak. Tobias Quarme, who had come down from Bristol to mend the chapel roof and had no patience for sea talk, took the lamp down one night to prove it was only the pipes.
He found the flagstones silvered with a tide that had no business coming in through brick. The helmet was not on its nail. It stood in the shallow water, turned to face him, its grille rising and falling. Tobias said, quite plainly, that he was not afraid, and the breathing stopped. Then a voice came out of the helmet, very polite and very far down, asking him to fetch it a new seal, for the old one had perished in the cold.
He went up at first light, found a rubber ring in the chandler's bin, and rowed it out past the pier. Mrs Jenner says the helmet hangs quiet now, and the tide comes no further than the third step. On still mornings, if you lean over the harbour wall, you can see the ring riding the swell, a black circle lifting and settling, lifting and settling, as the sea draws its breath.
