Fantasy creatures tattoo on a lower leg
Calf · Black and grey · Photo
The image shows a black ink design of three illustrated creatures, two large horned monsters and a smaller crowned figure, placed on the outer lower leg. The linework is fine and dense, with stippled shading that gives the creatures texture and depth. The design is shown in full on the leg against grass, with a close-up of the same artwork on a pale pink background on the right.

The last train to Harrowgate had gone without you, and the platform clock had stopped at twenty to midnight, which Mrs Fenwick at the buffet swore it always did. You sat on the bench with your holdall between your boots and watched rain slant under the canopy. Then two beasts came up the footbridge stairs, shouldering the ticket barrier aside as if it were made of paper. One had horns curled like a ram's and a shaggy coat stippled so densely it looked grey from the far end of the platform. The other wore a striped jumper that had plainly been knitted by someone who loved it.

Neither spoke. They sat either side of you and waited, the way old dogs wait at a door. Mrs Fenwick came out with a tray and set down three cups of tea without comment, as though this were ordinary, and perhaps for this hour it was. The tea smelled of bonfires and wet pennies.
A smaller creature came scrambling along the rail behind them, crown askew, tail lashing the cold air. It carried a lantern fashioned from a tin of pears and held it up to the dark tracks until a light answered far off down the line. "Signal's changed," it said, in a voice like a cork easing from a bottle. "We've been waiting for someone who can read a timetable upside down."
You stood, and the holdall was suddenly light. The 00:40 slid in with every carriage lit like a birthday cake, and the two beasts boarded first, the striped one holding the door with one clawed hand. The crowned creature bowed, its tail sweeping a neat curl through the rain, and climbed aboard after them. The doors closed. Behind the glass, the platform clock began to tick again.
