Horror villain with bladed glove on upper arm
Realism · Upper arm · Mixed · Photo
The tattoo shows a horror villain in a brimmed fedora, with a clawed, bladed glove raised to the left and a grimacing face at the centre. Shading is smooth and detailed, with heavy grey tones and fine texture on the skin and fabric. Small patches of red blood and drips add colour against the greys, and several smaller faces are partly visible on the lower right.

Margaret had already counted the chairs twice when the florist rang to say the lilies had been swapped for carnations, and that was the moment she decided the wedding would not go wrong on her watch. Her son Dennis stood by the marquee flap in a borrowed morning suit, sweating through his collar, his left hand still wrapped in tissue paper where he had been hiding the thing from the bride.

The glove had taken him three winters in the shed. It was leather, fitted with four curved blades he filed on the back step every Sunday, and the bride's father, Clive, had threatened twice to have him removed from the grounds. Margaret did not mind the blades. She minded that the vicar had been told the glove was a surprise for the ring, and the vicar was not a man who liked surprises. Dennis had also borrowed his late father's brimmed hat, which he wore pushed back on his head for the photographs, and which made Clive scowl every time the lens swung round.
During the speeches Dennis stood up, raised the gloved hand, and the blades caught the lamplight. The marquee went silent. The vicar reached for his spectacles. Then the fingers unfurled, and the ring dropped neatly into the bride's lap, wrapped in a dishcloth that Margaret recognised from her own kitchen.
Clive was the first to stand. He wiped his eyes with the back of his hand and raised his glass. 'Well,' he said, 'at least she'll always know where you are.'
