Close-up of a black lettering tattoo reading mispelled with a red wavy underline, like a spell-check mark, on an upper arm.

Mispelled with red spell-check underline

Lettering · Upper arm · Mixed · Photo

The tattoo spells the word mispelled in a clean, black sans-serif typeface, with the letter p dropping below the baseline. A red wavy line runs beneath the word, mimicking the squiggle a word processor shows for a spelling error. The photograph is a close crop on smooth skin with soft, even lighting and a plain dark background.

Eddie from the sports desk, who could not spell "Wednesday" with a clear conscience, had done the squiggle with a ruler and great care.

She laughed so hard the lift doors closed on her twice.

On the bus home she took the card out again and looked at the word. It was the only thing in the building that had ever agreed with her about what a mistake looked like. Everything else had needed fixing. Eddie had left her the one error she was allowed to keep.
