Owl tattoo on upper arm
Dotwork · Upper arm · Black and grey · Photo
A large owl is tattooed across the upper arm and shoulder, with its head turned towards the viewer and its wing feathers layered down the arm. The linework is bold and the feathers are filled with fine hatching and stippled dots, giving depth through shading rather than colour. The tattoo fills most of the frame against a plain light grey background, with the person's shoulder and grey vest top visible.

Mr Okafor says it's a tawny, though he's never been up there at dawn, so what does he know.

I haven't told the council. They'd only send a man with a pole and a bad attitude. Instead I've been leaving the fire door propped with a brick so she can come and go, and I've started clearing the glue traps from the lobby cupboard before anybody's kids find them. It's an odd thing to be doing at sixty-one, but the block has been quiet since the Hallidays left, and somebody ought to keep an eye out.
Last Tuesday she came down to the car park and sat on the wing mirror of the van, big as a dinner plate, and stared straight at me through the glass as if I owed her rent. I stared back. Neither of us blinked first, which I counted as a win.
Anyway, I wanted you to know the window's still boarded, I've got the key to the roof hatch, and if you ever visit I'll show you where she roosts. Bring the good biscuits. Yours, Walter.
