Princess Bubblegum and Marceline on a forearm
Forearm · Colour · Photo
Two cartoon characters are shown side by side on the inner arm: a pink-robed figure with a crown on the left and a black-haired figure holding a bass guitar on the right. The outlines are bold and solid, with flat fills of pink, red, black and skin tone, and little visible shading. The composition is vertical, with the two figures spaced apart against the skin.

"I need it for the bell tower," the princess said. "The clock has been running slow for a month and nobody can fix it." Marceline turned the bass over on her knee, plucked one string, and watched the note wobble in the air. "You want a rock show at the clock," she said. "I want the hour right," said the princess, which was not a no.
They carried the amp up three hundred and six steps, arguing on every landing. At the top the gears had rusted to lace, and the princess knelt in her pink robe, oiling them with a jar of sugar syrup she swore was better than any grease. Marceline strummed low, and each time the string dropped, a tooth of brass turned and the clock swallowed its hiccup.
When the bells finally struck true, the princess checked her wristwatch and found it wrong. "Yours is slow," Marceline said, and drifted down the stairwell in a cloud of bat wings, leaving the amp humming on the ledge for whoever wanted to listen next.
