Quote script over watercolour splashes on a forearm
Lettering · Forearm · Mixed · Photo
A forearm shows a handwritten-style black script quote, I solemnly swear that I am up to no good, set across two lines. Behind the lettering are soft blue, purple and pink watercolour washes with splattered red drops at the lower left. The lettering is crisp and dark while the colour fades softly at its edges, and the design is centred on the forearm.

"Blue first," said Teddy, who had the food colouring and the look of a boy who had never once been caught. "Then pink. Nobody ever checks the lemonade."
They worked fast in the gap between the ceremony and the photographs, Nell tipping a squeeze of blue into the big glass jug while Teddy stirred the cordial until it bloomed like a bruise. Outside, the marquee lights were coming on over the orchard, and the sky above it had gone the colour of a peach stone.
They had not counted on the groom's grandmother. She was the size of a teapot and wore a hat with a pheasant feather, and she poured herself a glass of the violet stuff without even reading the label. Then she drank it down and laughed, a proper laugh that turned heads.
"I did the same at my wedding," she said, dabbing her lips. "Nineteen sixty-one. My mother tinted the sherry with ink from the registry. Scandalised the whole parish." She pressed the cochineal jar back into Nell's hand. "Leave the last drop for the bride. She'll need it more than the vicar."
