Realistic elephant tattoo on the neck
Realism · Neck · Mixed · Photo
A greyscale elephant stands side on, with its trunk curled toward a soft red-pink flower on the right. The shading is smooth and detailed, giving the elephant depth and texture across its ears, legs and skin folds. The tattoo fills the centre of the frame against the back of a neck, with the top of the head and hair visible above.

The elephant had been standing in the orchard so long that the windfall apples had grown a crust of wasps around its feet. Nobody at Haverleigh Farm could say who had carved it from the old elm stump, only that it had appeared the spring after the storm took the north wall, and that it never once moved an inch, even when the Wilmot boys tried to lever it over with a pole.

Maud came out each evening with the bucket of mash for the hens and found it facing the same way, trunk lifted toward the single red hollyhock that had seeded itself in the nettles by the gate. She had decided, somewhere around August, that the flower was the reason. Elephants, her grandfather used to say, remember water and forget grief, and this one had clearly forgotten nothing about the stream that had dried up in 1976.
On the last evening of summer she brought the mash out and found the hollyhock snapped at the stem, its petals scattered across the elephant's cracked grey foot. She knelt in the dew and set the bucket down. Then she heard the faint creak of wood settling, and saw that the trunk had curled a little closer to the blossoms than it had been that morning. She laid the broken flower against the bark, leaned her forehead on the elephant's warm flank, and waited for the light to go.
