Six tribal-style creature designs in colour
Colour · Flash
The image shows six separate bold, stylised designs on a plain white background, including fox-like animals, a bird-like creature, a deer-like creature and a humanoid figure in a flowing dress. The designs use solid filled shapes, swirls and spiral details, with sharp tapered edges rather than fine hatching. Each design is a different solid colour, with red, green, blue, purple, brown and teal used across the sheet.

The sea took the east wing of Carrow Keep the winter my father stopped counting the bells. By spring the gatehouse stood alone on the rock, and the things that lived in its cellars had started climbing the stairs at dusk, one at a time, to see who was still awake.

The red one came first, nine tails fanned behind it like a scorched sail, and it stopped at the bottom step to sniff my boots. The green lady came after, all skirts and no feet that I could see, turning slow circles on the flagstones as if the hall still had a floor for dancing. Then the blue one with its cracked-shell head, the violet one that smelled of coal smoke, the brown fox with its tail curled like a fiddle scroll, and last the teal deer, which stood in the doorway and would not come in.
I asked them what they wanted. None of them answered, which my mother said was the proper manners for creatures that had outlived the people who named them. So I did what she had done. I swept the hearth, set out a bowl of barley, and left the lamp burning in the window where the sea could see it.
In April the teal deer finally stepped over the threshold, hooves clicking like dice, and lay down beside the fire. I woke to find the other five curled round it in a ring of lamplight. By morning the tide had pulled back and left a line of salt across the hall, curving from the gate to the hearth like a path. The deer was gone along with it, but the five stayed, and I have kept the lamp lit ever since.
