Stag and forest full arm sleeve
Realism · Upper arm · Black and grey · Photo
A full arm sleeve shows a stag with large antlers standing among tall tree trunks, with a second deer partly visible beside it. The lower part of the sleeve shifts into dense foliage, ferns and leaves rendered with fine stippled shading. The piece is entirely in black and grey, with smooth tonal gradients against a black background.

Oda set out at first light with the scanner on her hip and the old logbook under her arm, because the drone had flagged a rack of antlers moving between the trunks of Sumner Reach and nobody had seen a red deer on the grid for sixty years. She logged it as a fault and went anyway, boots soft in the moss.

The trunks rose grey as ash into the mist, and the ferns grew thick enough to brush her knees. The stag stood where the understory was densest, its antlers spread wider than her arms, and beside it a doe watched from the shadows with the patience of something that had never been hunted by anyone keeping time. The scanner returned nothing. No heat, no genome on record, only a faint hum like a fridge in an empty house.
Her grandmother had told her the reserve was grown from a single seed vault in a cold tower, planted in the shape of a forest someone remembered. Oda had thought it sentiment, the kind of thing people said to make a ledger feel like a prayer. The stag turned its head toward the leaves, which shivered, and the whole understory seemed to lean in and listen.
She switched the scanner off and let it drop into the ferns. The stag stepped back between the trunks and the doe followed, and then there was only green and the slow drip of the canopy. When Oda opened the logbook she wrote the number two, crossed it out, and wrote the word kept.
