Star Wars ships across both thighs
Thigh · Colour · Photo
The image shows the upper legs of a person in dark shorts, with a large design across both thighs. The Millennium Falcon is drawn on the left thigh and the Death Star on the right, with a Rebel Alliance emblem and an Imperial insignia at the lower part of each leg. The purple linework looks sketchy, with construction and guide lines visible around the ships, and the design is mirrored across the two legs.

Dear Tom, the drawing you left on my kitchen table is still there, folded in four, because I can't bring myself to bin a spaceship done in biro by a man who swore he couldn't draw. It's gone half one. Outside, the last 52 bus is grinding up Ecclesall Road, and the rain has that orange look the streetlamps give it, as if the whole street is being slowly fried.

You did the left-hand sheet on tracing paper, then flipped it over and copied it onto the right, so the Death Star would sit facing the Falcon across the table like a rival who has just arrived late to a funeral. Mum said it was daft. I said it was the only way two halves would match. She didn't argue, which is how I knew she'd been looking at it too.
Last night I found your first attempt in the bin under the sink, a crumpled sheet with blue pencil guide lines still showing through the back. They run through the middle of every ship like scaffolding under a building. I sat with the good pen and traced over them, one by one, until the lines I'd been told were just construction became the drawing itself.
The two emblems at the bottom of each sheet are still empty circles. I've left them that way. You'll have to come back to Sheffield to fill them in, and when you do, I'll have the kettle on at midnight and the window open so you can hear the buses.
