Star Wars themed flash sheet

Traditional · Black and grey · Flash

A black line flash sheet on paper showing ten separate designs with Star Wars themes, including a helmet, a stormtrooper with a bow, a lightsaber, a droid, a Rebel Alliance style emblem and a Lego minifigure. Lines are bold and even with no shading, and the designs are spaced evenly across the page. Some pieces sit inside a heart or a flower, and one carries a ribbon banner with lettering.

The sheet is finished, all ten pieces, and Mother Greaves says the Harbour Fair will pay for every one if the ink survives the sea damp. I gave the stormtrooper a ribbon bow at his throat because the Chandlers' boy said soldiers in Marrowmere should look like gifts, and nobody argues with the boy who owns the only printing press in town. The helmet beside him belongs to the old king, with its eye slits sharpened like rain-warped windows. The reed-thin blade I took from the flood marsh, where Ana's father cuts them for thatch. He found one that hummed when the wind came off the water, and he swore it was a sign, though he sells nothing he cannot weigh.

The copper-eyed droid I drew from memory of the clock-mender's shop on Tallow Street, where a brass man stands in the window polishing himself and never speaks. The sun-hook badge is for the smugglers who run the fjord after dark, and the cog inside the flower is for the tax men, who will buy it for their own doors and never ask what it means. The toy carpenter in blocks is for the children who cannot read yet but already know which way a hammer goes. The round white droid tucked in the heart is for Tobiah, who asked for something small enough to carry in his coat.

I put the moth last, though it sits in the middle of the sheet. Its wings are a lamp-maker's lattice and its body is drawn like the reel of the lighthouse, and every night it flies at the one bulb Mother Greaves keeps burning in the front window. I have not told her that I drew it for me. When the fair is over I will pin the sheet above the bench, and the moth is the only one I will keep looking at.
