Studio Ghibli scenes full sleeve

Shoulder · Colour · Photo

A four-angle photograph of a full sleeve tattoo covering the shoulder, upper arm and forearm, with a wrap-around view from the front, back and both sides. The design is a painterly scene drawn from Studio Ghibli films, with a floating castle among clouds, Totoro, soot sprites, a small white spirit figure, and a bathhouse with a red and green roof. The shading is smooth and soft, with rich greens, blues and yellows, and the scenes flow down the arm into a green landscape at the wrist.

A story inspired by this tattoo · fiction

Hob Crane had lit the ovens at Penhallow's bakery for forty winters, and in all that time the soot had never once come up the flue before the first cock crowed. This morning it rose in grey clumps, bobbing like wet wool, and each clump had two black eyes that blinked at him over the rim of the copper pan.

"Bread," said the largest one, in a voice like a kettle thinking. "The cook up top has run out. The castle has drifted off its anchor again, and the clouds are hungry."

Hob had heard the old tales about the stone castle that sailed above the hills, but he had never believed the clouds could be fed. He wrapped six cottage loaves in a cloth, tucked a jug of milk under his arm, and followed the sprites out past the orchard, where the grass grew so green it looked wet and the dew smelled of pine.

The path climbed past a bathhouse with a red roof and green painted trim, its lanterns still lit. A big grey creature, grinning under a tree, waved a paw the size of a barn door. At the top a pale figure with no face at all stood at a gate of rope and held out a hand. Hob gave it the cloth, and the figure gave him back a single warm coal wrapped in a dock leaf.

He woke at the bakery door with the coal still in his palm and the oven already roaring. Every loaf that morning came out gold, and the soot never climbed the flue again. It sat in the firebox, humming, and when the bread cooled the town said Hob had finally learned to bake. He never corrected them.
