Traditional pin-up flash with face and neck tattoos
Traditional · Mixed · Flash
A stylised woman in profile with a sleek hairstyle, heavy black outlines and flat cream skin. Her face and neck carry small tattoo designs including a cross, the words FAITH and HOPE, a spider web, an anchor, a heart and lightning bolts, with a plaid shirt and a hoop earring with a cross below. The linework is bold and even, with hatched shading and small red and blue accents on the cheeks, eyeshadow and lips.

A story inspired by this tattoo · fiction
Sit down, the coffee's only half burnt, and mind the cat, she thinks she owns that stool. You asked about Ruth Halloway's garage, so I'll tell it the way my uncle told it to me across this same counter in nineteen sixty-one, when the highway still ran straight through Cinder Wells and nobody had yet thought to bypass us.

Ruth ran the only garage between here and the state line, a corrugated shed with FAITH and HOPE painted over the bay doors in letters the sun had nearly eaten. Men brought her cars that had died out on the Sunset Stretch. She'd lean into the engine bay with her eyes shut, listen for a while, and then tell them the truth, which was rarer than good petrol.
The spring the lightning came, a stranger rolled in with a black Ford and a fold of notes thick as a Bible, offering to buy the place for twice what it was worth. Ruth hung a wrench on the hoist, wiped her hands on the tail of her checked shirt, and said the anchor on the wall stayed where it was, same as the heart scratched in the window glass, and he could drive on. He turned the key. The engine coughed, shuddered, and would not catch until he'd paid her the proper fee for the diagnosis.
Next morning the bay doors stood open and Ruth was gone. The stranger's car was still on the hoist, and on its dashboard somebody had left a brass cross, with a pencil note tucked under it that said, Pay what it's worth.
