Watercolour fox and galaxy on a thigh
Thigh · Colour · Photo
A stylised fox-like creature with a flowing orange tail sits on the thigh, framed by swirling blue and teal washes, dotted circles and small eye and wave motifs. Bold black linework outlines the main figure while the colour washes blend softly into the background. The composition wraps around the thigh, with a peacock feather tattoo visible on the arm at the right edge.

A story inspired by this tattoo · fiction
The fox had been in the henhouse twice that week, and Ada Pryce had stopped pretending the hens were fine about it. She stood at the back door with the bucket going cold in her hand, watching frost lift off the yard stones like breath. Her brother Tom was already out past the cattle grid with the lamp, shouting something the wind took.

The fox was not on the hay bales where she expected. It sat on the roof of the old dipping shed, a rust-coloured shape against a sky the colour of wet slate, and it was not looking at the hens at all. It was looking up. Ada followed its gaze and saw the cloud torn open over the top field, and a smear of blue and green light pulled across the dark as if someone had spilled paint on the night and let it run.
Her grandmother had called those lights the sheep's washing, a story for children who would not go to bed. Ada had never believed it. She set the bucket on the step. The fox turned its narrow head, one eye bright as a coin, then leapt, its tail streaming behind it like a comet, down into the frozen field where the stars lay reflected in the puddles.
Tom came back at dawn with nothing to show but frozen boots and a tale about a fox that had paced the gate. Ada said nothing. Later, when the hens were fed and the yard was swept, she found a feather of copper in the henhouse straw, bright as wet paint, and tucked it into her coat pocket to keep.
