Black line drawing of a Celtic knot style pair of wings framing the Harley-Davidson Motor Cycles bar and shield logo, shown on a plain white background.

Winged Harley-Davidson logo design

Black and grey · Flash

A black line drawing of a pair of wings made from interlaced, knot-like strands, curving up and outwards on either side of a central crest. The Harley-Davidson Motor Cycles bar and shield logo sits at the base, with a banner reading HARLEY-DAVIDSON and the words MOTOR and CYCLES. The design uses a single weight of black line on white with no shading, and the composition is symmetrical and centred.

Her grandfather had polished that badge every Sunday of her childhood and never once let her sit on the seat.

Dan held the torch while she worked the choke with a teaspoon and cursed the cold under her breath. In the far pen the heifer was bellowing, and the vet's number was still pinned to the kitchen calendar under a photograph of the bull that had died in March. They rode down the lane with the hedges furred white on both sides. Each time Nell glanced down, the wings on the tank threw the headlamp back at her, bright and then gone. At the bottom gate the drift came up to the seat, so she killed the engine and they pushed the last hundred yards, breath tearing out of them, until the vet's van came round the bend with its lights already on.

At dawn she went back to the byre alone. The calf was up and sucking, steam rising off its back. She traced the knotwork on the cold tank with her thumb and found the one strand that never closed, running off the edge of the metal as if the wings had been drawn to keep going.
