Follow your heart script on shoulder
Fine line · Shoulder · Black and grey · Photo
The tattoo reads "follow your heart" in a flowing cursive script across the shoulder. The linework is thin and even, in black ink, with the words slightly angled and joined by connecting strokes. The skin is lit from the side against a near-black background, which makes the lettering stand out clearly.

She read them standing in her coat, the kettle ticking as it cooled. Nan had never been one for signing off. The card had lived in a biscuit tin in Hull for forty years, and her cousin had posted it on with a Post-it note that said Found this in Mum's things, thought you should have it. Her mother wanted her near the hospital, Priya wanted her at the printworks, and the letting agent wanted a signature by Friday. At half past three she stopped pretending to sleep, pinned the card to the fridge under a magnet shaped like a lighthouse, and signed.
At four she walked the envelope down to the postbox on the corner of Ferry Road. The street lamp buzzed, the rain had stopped, and the slot took the letter with a small, decided sound.
