Footprints with wings and script on a wrist
Lettering · Forearm · Black and grey · Photo
A black ink tattoo on the inner wrist shows two solid footprints centred beneath a small halo, with a pair of angel wings on either side. Curved script wraps around the footprints and reads Too Beautiful for Earth. The design uses clean black linework and solid fills, with no colour or shading, and sits centred on the wrist against plain skin.

Nobody in Hobb's Scar had seen the child climb the old keep stairs, but everyone agreed the frost showed where she had gone. Mrs Teague found the prints on the second morning of hard weather, two small soles pressed into the white of the battlements, neat as stamps, leading from the arrow slit to the crumbled edge where the wall dropped straight into the sea.

Her husband wanted to follow them with a lantern and a length of rope. She told him to bank the fire instead. The gull-keepers said a lost thing leaves prints only when it means to go somewhere, and that the postern gate in the keep had stood open all winter for exactly that reason. Nobody knew whose child she was. Nobody in the parish was missing one. That was the part that kept the village awake.
On the third morning the prints were there again, but they ran the other way, from the sea wall back towards the village, and beside each one a small feather of frost stood up out of the stone, the way a wing lifts before it takes its weight. Mrs Teague swept the snow from her step and counted the marks to her own door. There were twenty-two. She stopped counting after that and went in to warm the kettle, because whoever came home that way would want something hot.
