Full-body traditional flash on a white silhouette
Traditional · Upper arm · Colour · Flash
A coloured drawing of a full-body tattoo layout placed on a white silhouette against black paper. It includes an eagle, snakes, a dragon, a peacock, a pin-up woman, a grim reaper, a rose, a lighthouse and a ship, with a warrior-style portrait at the lower right. Bold black outlines, solid red, yellow and orange fills and dark shading are used throughout.
Take it to an artist as a reference. A good artist will make it yours rather than copy someone else's tattoo.

Mrs Dunning had cooking oil on her hands when the lorry came in off the Stockton road, and she wiped them on her apron before going to look at the showman's new banner. "Too much red," said her son Tobias, who had been up since five hanging the big wheel's lights. "Nobody looks at a fair and wants sails."
"They look at red. That's all they ever look at." She climbed onto the caravan step and laid her palm flat on the canvas, the way her mother had taught her to test bread. The paint was still tacky. Beyond the dodgems a dog was barking at the reaper figure on the ghost train front, the one with the scythe that swung on a wire every hour, and the children always screamed and ran back to their parents.
Tobias said nothing for a while. Then he fetched the tin of pencils his grandfather had used for booth signs, sat on the wheel hub, and began drawing a swallow in the margin of the paperwork, quick and black, with a bit of red at its throat the way the old sailors liked it.
By the time the sun dropped behind the gasworks the banner was dry and the swallow was flying across the ledger towards the ship, and Mrs Dunning had decided, without saying so, that the sails could stay red.
