Immeasurably more script on a wrist
Fine line · Forearm · Black and grey · Photo
The image shows a close-up of the inner wrist with the words immeasurably more tattooed in a flowing cursive script. The linework is thin and even in black ink, with the word immeasurably running across the top line and more sitting beneath it. The background is softly blurred and muted, which keeps the focus on the lettering and the pale skin.

Dear Tom,

The Bramleys came in heavier than Dad ever managed, and I have stopped pretending I am not pleased about it. Mrs Okafor from the cottage at the end of the lane sent her boy round with a basket for the Harvest Sunday stall, and he stood on the step asking whether we would need the ladders back before Thursday. I told him the ladders were still in the shed where you left them, leaning against the cider press as if they were waiting for a verdict.
I went through the old ledger last night. Dad wrote the picking dates in pencil in the margin every year since 1961, and in the autumn you left he wrote just one line: 'Nothing to sell, more than we can eat.' I used to think that was a complaint. Now I think it was the most honest thing he ever put on paper.
Yesterday I filled eleven crates before noon and the wasps found every split one. Vera from the bakery came up for windfalls and took three sacks, saying she would make chutney for the whole street. I did not ask her to pay. Afterwards I found myself laughing at the shelf of jars she left behind, every lid labelled in her wobbly capitals.
Come home for the picking if you can. There is more than I can carry, and I would rather you were up a ladder beside me than counting it from London. Your loving sister, Hettie.
