Leaf wreath quote on a forearm
Botanical · Forearm · Black and grey · Photo
A black linework tattoo of a leaf wreath, with each leaf outlined, frames a quote in a typewriter-style font that reads "and she loved a little boy very, very much -even more than she loved herself." The text is set in centred lines inside the wreath, with even spacing and clean, consistent outlines. The photo is taken straight on against a white sheet, with the skin filling the centre of the frame.

Dear Ruth,
Keep reading
I nearly didn't come to the reunion, but on Sunday I found Dad's old typewriter in the loft, the one with the sticking e, and I spent the whole afternoon typing out the rhyme Mrs Hadley used to read us after dinner on Fridays. You'll remember the one about the mended kite. Every e came out as a little gap, so I had to go back and fill them in with a biro, which is probably the most honest thing I've done all year.
The reunion is at the Crown on the fourteenth, and Mr Pryce says he'll still have the boiler key on his ring if anyone wants to see the old hall. I've enclosed a card for Tommy Vance. I know you think I should post it to his mum's, but she moved to Rhyl and I haven't got the address, and besides, he always sat at the back by the radiator, the seat nobody picked, so I want to hand it to him myself.
Last term I asked him what he'd do with a whole day off school. He said he'd lie on the field and count the planes. I thought that was the saddest thing I'd ever heard from a boy of eleven, and I still think so, but I've started to wonder whether it was the bravest.
Bring a pen, Ruth. If he comes, I'd like you to watch his face when he reads the last line, the one where I filled the e in by hand, because I want to see whether he notices the mistake or simply keeps it.
Love, Margaret
