Let it be in handwritten script
Lettering · Black and grey · Flash
The image shows the phrase let it be written in a loose, joined, handwritten script in black ink, set vertically and reading from bottom to top. The linework is even and uniform in weight, with no shading. The plain white background leaves the lettering isolated on the right of the frame, with empty space to the left.

He tried a block capital first, the way the council signs were done. She shook her head and took a folded scrap from her coat pocket. Ned Pelling's hand ran loose and joined, the letters leaning into each other like men at a bar, the crossings of the t's left trailing. Tom spent two evenings copying it onto a board in the workshop before he trusted himself on brick. The paint took. The rain held off for three days, which the fishermen said was a miracle and Ada said was only the weather being polite.
On the last afternoon she stood at the foot of the ladder while he worked the final e. Did he reckon Ned had meant it as an instruction, she asked, or as something he'd given up on? Tom said he couldn't tell from the handwriting. She said that was the trouble with handwriting, it kept the tone to itself.
He finished the stroke so the tail lifted clear of the wall. From the quay, the words only came clear if you tilted your head to one side. Ada tilted hers, read them upwards from the first letter to the last, then went inside to put the kettle on.
