Let your faith be bigger than your fear
Lettering · Black and grey · Flash
A handwritten quotation runs diagonally across a sheet of paper, reading Let your faith be bigger than your fear, with the word faith in bold and fear in smaller letters. The linework is thin and uniform in black ink, with no shading, and a small outlined heart sits at the top right. The plain white background and angled composition keep the text as the sole focus.

She folded it into her apron pocket and went out across the yard, where the frost had turned the puddles to plates and the wind came off the moor like something with a grudge. Tom was in the lower barn, forking straw with the stiff care of a man who had not slept. He did not look up when she came in. He had not looked up at anything since the auction notice came, except the gate, and he kept looking at that.
She stood beside him and held out the letter. He read it slowly, mouthing the last line the way he used to mouth hymns. Let your faith be bigger than your fear. He had written it underneath, in a smaller hand, almost as an afterthought.
"Mum used to say that to the lambs," he said finally.
"Mum said a great many things to the lambs," Margaret said, and took the fork from him, and they worked until the light gave out, the two of them shifting straw in the cold, neither of them saying that the top field would be theirs for another spring.
