Metallic gold temporary tattoo sheets and a back piece
Geometric · Back · Colour · Flash
Five panels show metallic gold and silver temporary tattoo designs on white, including chains, chevrons, feathers, arrows, leaves, a dreamcatcher, swallows, a moon and stars. The designs are mostly simple, outlined linework with flat metallic fills, and the sheets are arranged in a grid. The top right panel is a photograph of a woman's bare back on a beach, with a small gold dreamcatcher design placed between the shoulder blades.

Every Thursday for thirty years a woman called Mags Penhallow ran a trestle under the clock in Haddon Square, selling gold. Not real gold, she was quick to say, but sheets of it, flat and bright as a new coin, printed with feathers and chevrons and chains that clung to the skin for a week and then gave up. She sold them for pennies. She sold a sheet of swallows to a boy going to sea, and a moon with a handful of stars to a widower who wanted something to show his daughter he could still be daft.
Then came a wet October girl named Nell, who wanted a dreamcatcher. Mags had only one left, a little gold ring strung with feathers, hidden under the stack of arrows. "It won't last," Nell said, counting coins in the rain. "Nothing worth having lasts," Mags told her, peeling the backing away. "That's why they sell it by the week."
The rain didn't stop. By dusk the gutters ran gold where the transfers had washed off, a bright slick down the cobbles, and the children chased it as if it were treasure, which I suppose it was. Nell came back the next Thursday, dry-faced and cross, to say the dreamcatcher had gone after four days. Mags only laughed and sold her another. That's the trick of it, you see. The gold was never meant to stay. It was meant to be bought again.
