Perfume atomiser tattoo on forearm
Traditional · Forearm · Mixed · Photo
A purple perfume atomiser with a lattice-patterned glass bottle, gold collar and a round bulb sits on the forearm. Bold black outlines and solid colour fills define the bottle, with pink and red accents on the pattern and cap, while a grey shaded cameo in an ornate gold frame sits to the left. The composition runs diagonally up the arm, with a partial tattoo visible at the top edge.

Dear Oriel,

The bulb on the atomiser cracked again this morning, so I have spent the afternoon with my sleeves pushed up, fitting a new rubber over the brass throat while Master Hesk pretends not to watch. You will laugh, but the purple glass is holding. Forty-one facets on every lattice panel, and not one chipped when the cart went over at Saltmere Bridge. I counted twice, the way you taught me to count when we were children and frightened of thunder.
The Queen's cameo came back from the frame-maker with its gilt chain restored. She wants it set beside the scent in the reception hall, so the envoys from Varenna see the face before they smell the perfume. I told her a face should not be sold alongside a perfume, and she laughed and said that was exactly why the envoys would remember it.
Something happens tomorrow, and I have not told anyone but you. The bottle we made for the wedding of the Lady Ysolde carries the old formula, the one with bitter orange and a drop of river salt. Hesk says it is dead. I think he is afraid of it. If the envoys lift it to their faces and turn toward the window, I will know the rumour about the sea-fog was true.
Burn this letter. Better yet, keep it. I want one person in the kingdom who knows I was right about the lattice.
Yours in brine and glass, Teodra
