Pink lips biting a bullet design
Traditional · Colour · Flash
A drawn design of open pink lips with teeth visible, clenching a gold bullet that runs horizontally across the mouth. The bullet casing carries the words Trust no Bitch in a dark script, and the lips and bullet are outlined in bold black lines with simple shading. The pink, gold and cream palette sits on a plain pale background.

The rain came sideways down the market aisle at eight, and you stood under the tarpaulin of the stall you had inherited from your aunt, counting coins into a biscuit tin. Pat Doherty from the watch stall came over with two teas in paper cups, which was how you knew he wanted something.

'Brass shell casing,' he said, setting a small gold cylinder beside your tea. 'Came in with a box from the Lisburn clearance. Thought of you.' You turned it over. Someone had scratched a name inside the base, LORNA, and a date from before you were born. Lorna was your aunt's name. Nobody had said it aloud since the funeral.
You kept your mouth shut the way she taught you, holding a hard thing between your teeth so the words stayed put. Pat watched you, rain dripping off the peak of his cap. 'She owed people,' he said. 'Still might. If I were you, I'd check the ledger before I trusted the lad who runs the van.'
You did not check the ledger that night. You checked it the next morning, once the rain had cleared, and found the van lad's initials in your aunt's hand three times, each one struck through with a single neat line. You set the casing on the counter where the grey light from the street caught it, and you left it there, a small bright promise that from now on you would be the one deciding who got paid.
