Quote in script along the side of a thigh

Lettering · Thigh · Black and grey · Photo

A single line of black script reads Curiosity often leads to trouble, running along the outer side of the upper thigh. The lettering is thin and even, with slightly varied letter heights, and is set against smooth skin. The shot is taken at close range, with a grey top and hand in the frame and a softly blurred dark background, warm in tone.

Mr Dunmore, climbing those same steps at closing, found the door ajar and me on the landing with a letter in my lap.

He did not shout. He sat down beside me, took the envelope from my fingers, and said, 'She always did want to know what I was writing.' Then he opened it, and I let him.
