Realistic dragonfly tattoo on the back
Realism · Back · Colour · Photo
A dragonfly is shown in profile with outstretched translucent green wings, a dark blue and black abdomen with blue spots, and blue compound eyes. Soft grey-brown shading gives the wings and body a three-dimensional, lifelike appearance against the pale skin. The insect sits centrally in the frame with a faint shadow beneath it.

Her grandson Tobias was seven and did not believe in any of it. He went down to the pond with a bucket and a hammer to break the ice for the ewes, and found a dragonfly frozen in the reeds at the edge, its wings held out flat as if it had been pinned to the air. The wings were so thin the light came through them, green as a bottle. He carried it up to the kitchen in his cupped hands, and his grandmother set it on the windowsill beside the candle and told him to leave it be.
That night the frost broke. By morning the sill was wet, and the dragonfly was gone, though the mud by the door had a line of small blue-spotted prints leading out towards the pond. Tobias swore he had seen it lift off the sill and hover at the glass. Mabry only nodded, and put the kettle on, and said the ice would be off the water by Sunday.
