Colour realism rose with black lace mandala patterns and red gems on a forearm, with dotwork diamonds near the wrist.

Realistic rose and lace forearm tattoo

Realism · Forearm · Mixed · Photo

A realistic pink rose sits on the inner forearm, surrounded by black lace-like mandala ornaments and two faceted red gems shaded to look like rubies. Fine dotwork triangles and small diamond outlines run down towards the wrist. Soft shading on the rose contrasts with the crisp, dense black linework of the surrounding ornament.

Mr Tallis has the stall with the glass cases at the far end, the one beside the fishmonger. Yesterday he set out two rubies he had cut himself, deep red as a bruised plum, and beside them a pressed pink rose under a bell of glass, its petals still soft after a whole winter in a drawer. Mr Tallis says a stone set in lace is worth more than a stone set in gold, because gold only shines, but lace makes a stone look as if it was always meant to be there.

I told him I would bring you on Saturday if the weather clears. Bring your thimble and the grey shawl. If it stays wet, we shall sit in the back of the bakery and draw diamonds on the steamed windows until the bread goes cold. Your loving sister, Hettie.
