Scattered star trail flash design
Black and grey · Flash
A vertical trail of stars drawn in black, mixing solid filled stars with outlined stars in a range of sizes. The stars grow larger towards the middle of the design and shrink towards the top and bottom, creating a sense of movement. The image is in pure black and white with no shading and sits centred on a plain white background.

Mind the step there, that's where the old mule went through the ice, and don't look at the drop, look at the stones in front of you. Now, you asked about the lamp-keeper's girl, so listen properly, because I'll not tell it twice in this wind.

Her name was Dol Pryce, and she kept the sheep on the high side of Bwlch Du the autumn her father's knees gave out. One evening the cloud came down thick as wool and she went after a ewe straying toward the cliffs. The ewe came home without her.
Her mother climbed to the pass every night for a week with a lantern, and every night the wind put it out before she reached the cairn. On the seventh night the sky cleared all at once, and there lay a line of stars across the pass from the valley to the top, some solid, some only outlined, as if someone had scattered silver and bid it keep to a path. Her mother followed it and found Dol sitting against a boulder, counting the stars on her fingers and singing to stay awake.
The old folk say the stars were only stars, and the mother only lucky. Maybe. I've walked this pass sixty years and never once seen the sky lay out a road for me. But every clear night I climb it and count the stars from the bottom up, the way Dol did, and I've never yet lost my footing.
