Script quote across the lower back

Lettering · Back · Black and grey · Photo

The photograph shows a black script phrase reading you are perfect to me, arched across the lower back of a person wearing a patterned top and dark bottoms. The linework is thin and even, with fluid joined letters and a single black ink tone. The lettering fills the frame diagonally, with the top edge of the garment and the waistband visible at the edges.

In the end she left it as it was, joined and swaying, and wrapped it in brown paper with the string tied the way her father liked. She left the shop lights on. On the pavement she passed a man wrestling an umbrella, and she thought, quite clearly, that she would give it to him tomorrow, and that he would read it twice, and that neither of them would mention it again for thirty years.
