Small rabbit tattoo on a forearm
Forearm · Black and grey · Photo
A small, solid black silhouette of a rabbit sits on the outer forearm, shown in a leaping or upright pose with its ears raised. The image is a close crop of the arm against a blurred background, with the tattoo as the clear focal point. The design is a single flat black shape with no visible shading or colour.

Joseph was six and had been on the ward since Tuesday. His mum had gone home at midnight to sleep for four hours, and the window beside his bed showed nothing but the orange glow of the car park. Marnie pulled the curtain halfway, clicked the reading lamp on, and held up her hand. Joseph considered this with the seriousness of a magistrate. "Who keeps watch when you go home?"
"The lamp," she said, and he looked at it as if it had been promoted. When his eyes finally closed, she switched the lamp off and left the door open a hand's width, the way the night sister always did. In the dark corridor, the last thing Marnie saw was the faint square of light from bed nine, and on the ceiling tile above it, one small shape still caught in the glow from the lamp she had forgotten to turn off.
